The Wonderful Nexus 6P

I own a chromebook and chromecast; I really enjoy using both these devices extensively because of their ease of use and how seamlessly it connects to my google account but I recently got my hands on a Nexus 6P, this year’s premium handset from Google designed by Huawei.

I previously owned a Nexus 5X and while it was a great device when I first started using it, I soon found out that the 2GB of ram couldn’t quite keep up with what I needed from my phone; the performance on the 5X wasn’t brutal by any means but I definitely noticed some snags and bumps here and there that began to nag at me over time. So I went ahead and purchased a Nexus 6P and it’s a world difference.

The 6P sports better internals as well and more storage space; the biggest 5X available storage wise was 32GB while definitely manageable I wanted something that gave me a bit more breathing room and that’s where my 64GB 6P shines for me. Not only is the storage a nice change for the 3GBs of RAM definitely give the device a smoother, snappier user experience; I can go from snapchat to robinhood to instagram with little to no lag whereas it would be a chore on the 5X.

The build quality of the 6P is incredible, I’ve only used plastic devices before this so coming to something with such a premium quality is a huge leap and makes me a bit paranoid handling the device at times; I immediately bought a Spigen case to help maintain the great aluminum finish of the handset.

Other users mileage may vary though and I’m sure there is someone who will read this and say “My 5X is snappy and flies through anything I throw at it with no problem” well that’s great for you maybe you could handle the small bits of lag and snag here and there but I really couldn’t deal with it any longer. I feel like every phone has some slowdown eventually and hiccups but these things also depend on the users tolerance and what they do with their phone.

Jumping from the 5X to the 6P has also exposed me to a bigger screen size. The 5X boasts a 5.2 inch display whereas the 6P comes in at 5.7; the 6P isn’t as easy to use for me one handed as the 5X was but it’s something I’m willing to trade off for the screen quality, performance, and slightly better battery life which again depends on your own personal usage.

The 6P’s camera is fantastic; I’ve never been one to care for the camera on my phone but once I saw how beautiful the pictures I can capture with this phone could be I find myself looking for more and more great shots to take on my commute to work or whenever I’m out, you can find some shots I took with the phone on my Instagram: hustlebnes.

I touched a bit on the battery life a little bit and I have nothing but great things to say about it; I get a little over 4 hours of screen on time which I haven’t seen since I had my 3rd generation Moto G(that thing could crank out a little over of 5 hours of SOT);Throw in the fast charging and I don’t find myself charging my phone so often, I’d say it gets charged once or twice a day.

All in all, I’m very happy with this device and encourage everyone looking for the best stock Android experience possible to shell out the cash and grab this phone. It does everything right and even if you’re not a fan of huge phones still give it a shot it’s an amazing experience and the performance alone could change your mind about any negatives you personally come across.
